This is just my opinion, a lot of people have water features or a pond
with a pump / fountain nozzle, but its not really a fountain is
it?
Its just as i said a pond with a pump and nozzle. Fountains are
easier to keep (no feeding, and if looked after never get green
water) they bring pleasure to those who want to just sit and watch, they
also cool the air in the immediate surroundings.
I have been to see Exclusive Fountains and yes for some of the bigger
fountains they are not cheap costing thousands of pounds, but they are definitely
worth it. Or if you live in a village why not club together and have a
fountain on your village green.
Britain has not yet caught on to the fact that fountains are easier
to maintain, look nice and last for years.
where have all the public fountains gone?
I can remember as a child seeing a fountain in our local shopping precinct
(before the advent of shopping centres) that was built and then removed,
even as a child i could see it was never going to work (It
was a brass ball with arms that was on top of a tall cone, It was
obvious that the cone was too high, and the water would miss the
catchment pool) My point is that a fountain has to be thought out not
just built. I can also remember when the first shopping centre in the
town where i live had a fountain, with changing coloured lights
but it too has gone.
I know that people will say that fountains get vandalised, but they
don't in shopping centres or in business parks, a fountain makes a
statement. It can say what you want it to say.
