How to build a pond and get it wrong

These pictures show how to build a pond, or not.  Can you see what is wrong? Look at the pictures first, then find out what is wrong

  The hole is dug

The liner goes in as does the water.

  Sleepers for edging
Now please have a look and see what you think is wrong.

First of all a pond should have sloping sides, or a wall. If it doesn't the sides will collapse.

The liner looks like it has  just been "thrown in" it is full of creases and there is no sign of liner underlay or sand. Without these the liner will not last long.

The sleepers are either too far back or the water level is too low. I suspect the pool is not level. Also leaving the liner exposed to the elements will also considerably reduce its life (As well as look bad like it does) I wonder how long after it was filled did the fish go in.

Some time later a water fall has been added.

  " Water fall"

Does it not look like the pump is sitting just under the "water fall" That is a bad thing as it means only the pond water near the filter outlet will will be filtered as there is no movement in the remaining pond water. Also there is not really a fall, just a follow this liner.

With a few alterations this pond could look nice.
