Rain Chain

rain chain Is as the name suggests a chain for rain, if you have a broken gutter pipe you can install a rain chain, (providing it complies with building regulations)

They also make very good water features.

The idea is simple enough, you secure a suitable (galvanised) chain to the outlet (gutter) and the other end hangs over a drain, or sump if its a water feature.

When water runs down the chain it does so quietly and it glistens in the sunlight

I would however suggest that if it is used for a "down pipe" the bottom end is secured to prevent the chain from swinging and causing damp problems

You can make your own rain chain, but do use a suitable rustproof chain, or you can buy them ready made, i have seen "cups" "funnels" and some intricate chain links, all made from copper, All very nice, but quality costs, then again do you really want a copper chain?
